Community Garden Accepting Plot Applications

Peace Community Garden is now accepting applications from area residents who would like individual plots. Plots measure 6 x 10 feet, and are available for $15 for the 2008 growing season. Some seeds and plants will be available to gardeners.

Gardeners are encouraged to share their excess produce with neighbors or one of the area food pantries.  Last year, the garden produced in excess of 700 lbs. of vegetables.

If an individual does not want the responsibility of maintaining an individual plot, but would still like to get involved, we will be planting some vegetables in common areas. These will be cared for communally.

For an application or more information, contact Garden Director Diane Runyan.

There’s a blossoming of special events and activities at the 2008 Flower Festival, so drop by Christ Church Cathedral, 1210 Locust St., on Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4. Sponsored by the Diocese of Missouri, Missouri Botanical Garden and Christ Church Cathedral - and presented in partnership with the Central Library’s “Central Goes International!” - Flower Festival celebrates nature’s beautiful abundance and our responsibility as stewards of the planet.
